I have an early frame april 1970 with bar across frame to mount mainstand,if I use later gearbox cradle with stand attached will the stand or cradle foul the original stand mounting, looking at doing this for two reasons #1 I havn't got an original stand #2 I hear that the original frame mounted stands were a weak point. Also I havn't got a side stand (early type that mounts on the vertical plate)the plate is intact would anyone know where I could get one?

I have a later engine cradle on my 1970 and use the later better center stand along with the shorty 1970 sidestand. The 1970 triangle center stand really is terrible.

I have both the stock '70 early stands and they work ok. I think the center stand is a little short. It could use 1/4 inch tacked onto the bottom legs to be taller.

I'm still using the original stands on my bike, but it's only got 14K miles on it. I think if you're careful with them they'll last. The prop stand could stand to be a bit longer, I always put either a 1x or 2x under it. The 2x makes it stand nearly straight up. I put the center stand on a 1x also but I notice lately I have to put the front tire on a 2x to get it on the center stand. I need more exercise.

You can use the early cradle with the later center stand. It requires drilling two holes in the cradle for the pivot bolts. The holes can be drilled with the cradle and engine in the frame. Precise layout of the holes is important. Previous posts contain dimensions for the hole locations.
