Hi all,
I am not sure about how valid this claim is about being the last commando produced.
Last year at Norton Day in UK at Hunstanton there was a guy who rode his commando to the event & he had paperwork confirming that his was the last commando produced.
He did send me copies of his letters of authentication as I was going to put a photo of his bike in the Norton Owners Club Calendar. I did not keep his copy paperwork but it all came from reliable sources.
I will enquire with people in the know who might be able to check his engine & frame number or check with the NOC Records officer to find the engine number of the last commando produced according to the official factory records.
It will be interesting to see which is the last commando.
Cheers Don

This was discussed at great length (5 pages) about a month ago. last-norton-made-t9206.html
336539 probably was the last one to be built, but it may not be the last official Commando.
According to Joe Seifert, the last Commando listed in the dispatch records was 336537 (see page 2 of the thread).

There is NO WAY ON EARTH that bike was pushed a total of 7 miles from showing it around, loading on trailers, etc.

Think about it...

Bikes would normally be taken out for a brief road test (Edit: With 'trade plates' attached) so they're almost certainly road test miles.

Is the last example of a bike a bit like the fastest gun in the West?

There’s always someone faster; there’s always a later “last Commando.”
