That nut should not be loose but is unlikely to be your noise. Loosen the clutch cable adjuster a the clutch lever, back that nut off and then turn the screw in the nut in until you feel it touch something. Back the screw off 1 turn and use the nut to lock the screw in place. Then readjust the cable at the handle bar.You can run the bike with the cover off to see if it's easier to hear where the noise is coming from. Just be sure all oil is gone so you don't make a mess.Also, the wire from the stator should be coming out of the other side, but that's probably no the problem either.
