Keeping Prespective

Yes it was you, and many like you.

The media doing anything they can to harm Trump TDS.
The media says it, you hear it, and you propagate it every time you can.
Trump was calling the media a hoax and even said the next day that he was not calling the virus a hoax, did it stop there, nope.

You keep it going, just as you are now, and then deny that you are doing it.

The Russian hoax is just another example, we now know where it started and who knew, I bet you believe, and tell people Trump Colluded with Russia.

The ends do not justify the means.
Let me say it now so you are very clear: COVID-19 is NOT a hoax.

And Trump has done very little to persuade MAGAfiles to take it seriously: masks, social distancing, lockdowns, disenfectant... we know what he said about all of these and what the party line is. Its all on tape.

But, this particular discussion is better suited for different thread here in the Pub.

All very interesting .... exactly how does it affect a small town retired guy in Nova Scotia ..... have lived and worked here my entire life .... started in the woods after finishing 2yr diploma as Eng. Tech. , worked my way up to Superintendent of Public works for small town ..... have lived through several different gov’s both Federal and Provincial and just can’t point to any instance where these Admins. affected me , good or bad ... have I lived the last 65+ years with head in the sand ..... or am I just a dumb ass .. ...
I did somewhat similar. But I learned one lesson - 'the system runs on bullshit'. If you don't have high expectations, you will never be disappointed Most things in business are disingenuous. Those who suffer the most are the believers. If you are retired and have enough money to live on, you should be happy. What I don't like is being exploited by those who have little real ability of their own. I don't regret what I did during my working life, but I would not do it again. - ALTRUISM HAS NO VALUE IN MODERN SOCIETY ? - It seems we should never believe in what we do.

The problem with Trump calling things 'a hoax', is that some things are hoaxes. But stuffing with peoples' minds is not nice. 'Honesty is the best policy', but is Trump honest ? I watched Bannon on TV - that is one cynical bastard.

And Bill Clinton: 'Did not have sexual relations with that woman!'

Sorry swim against the tide guys, but I just watched those links and Trump is NOT saying that covid is a hoax at all! He’s saying the opposition is creating hoax out of the situation, exaggerating things, etc (which could, of course, be argued against).

He even goes on to boast about how much money he’s spending to fight covid and how he’s set up a task force etc, so he clearly isn’t saying it’s not real.

If the Covod 19 pandemic was a world war, would we be worried about the economy ? - 'What does not kill you, makes you stronger' ? I think Trump is the President America had to have. We all now look at democracy in a new light. We probably used to take too much for granted.
In Australia, many young people are unemployed and on welfare. A lot of them are not even registered to vote in elections. They believe they are bucking the system by abstaining - but their futures are actually in their own hands.

Semantics. There's no exaggeration when it comes to a deadly pandemic. Ask the survivors of the dead. (Except those idiots that deny Covid's existence to their last breath). He admitted to lying to the public to "avoid a panic" and knew all along it was a respiratory disease and quite deadly. He has denigrated mask usage even though he also admitted he was aware of it's transmission media and compared Covid to the flu. Like many of the lies he has been caught up in and exposed, he jumped the fence and then tried to take credit for things others have done. I read the other day that he's been an absolute boon to the fact-checking industry since he can't move his lips without lying about something.

I’m not arguing with any of that. I’m just saying he did not say covid is a hoax, as was stated previously.

Better watch out (no politics in the pub) or you will know what will happen.

Perhaps what Trump does not say is as important as what he does say ? Absence of comment can be dog-whistling, depending on the topic. I liked it the other day when he said he was going to be at home cleaning his guns. - very subtle.
I have a friend who always votes conservative. He is a gun owner and regularly reads the NRA magazines from America. He really believes he can use his guns to defend his home without being shot down in the first 5 minutes.
]What is reality ? He also drinks a lot. I like him - he is a good guy. I just take no notice when he gets on his soap box.

I seriously believe that Covid 19 and Trump are changing our world for the better. Collectivism has become much more desirable and we are getting our heads straight about our democratic systems of government. I never thought I would see ordinary Australians become so risk-conscious. In the past, everything we ever did was usually reactive., rather than proactive.

I don’t drink ....do own guns which I keep locked up ..... if someone came into my home with ill will .... I would defend my home using any means necessary , like most folks around here ... we have very little property crime in our small town , most know the prevailing attitude in such situations .... you walk into someone’s home uninvited , you get what’s coming .... no surprises .... tradition that many doors left unlocked .... a quiet little town

That's how it should be
Things are a bit different in the UK
And I'm not even sure what the wording is but it's something like "you can only use reasonable force" I've probably got that wrong and someone will correct me
But personally I don't care what the law says
If someone is on my property uninvited I will do whatever I see fit!!
There's been a few cases of people "breaking the law" defending their own property

Similar laws here as well .... however ..... enforcement happens after the occurrence

You would not get much sympathy in Australia if you killed an intruder. It happens on occasion and is usually drug-related. I don't think we have many doomsday preppers.

So when the bad guys break into your house while you are there do you think they will give you time to find your gun safe key and give you time to grab your gun and finding the magazine for it and put the bullets in it, I don't think so, most break ins are when the owners are not at home.
I am old school and my house is never shut up tight, windows are always open, main doors still have original 65 year old locks but no one can get past the front yard of my house and no one will ever get up the back to my workshop/bike shed as I have 2 cattle dogs who's main role is to protect and if I am home they always let me know when someone comes through the front gate even my mates who they know, I do live in the north suburb of Brisbane (main city of Queensland) and I have lived in the same house since I was born except when I ran away a few times in my younger days, I got rid of all my guns (for hunting) when the kids came along, yes there is crime but not at my place, would I protect my place if someone did get caught here, of cause I would after the dogs had their fun with them.

Small town is key , folks know what goes on and who up to what .... very few if any random B&E’s around here .... almost always targeted ( a personal beef of some sort) , when that happens weapons already out , why it hardly ever happens .,.. I sleep well .,thanks .... lots of random stuff in our city , it a city problem ... when we lived downtown with children , they grew up with a pair of bull terriers , Punch and Jingels , nobody ever came too close to our kids or our house ever , dogs hung with our kids at all times ....

Dogs are great and very loyal to their owners and very protected of our kids, I have always own Aussie cattle dogs (red and blue cattle dogs) all my life, when I first started to date my now wife 31 years ago my red dog at the time hated her and use to get in between us when she was around, he would never accept her at all, but when she fell pregnet to our first born he was a different dog and became my wife's protector and when he was born he wanted to be even closer to her and the baby, we lost our first child at 6 weeks old and he knew something was wrong, he morned with both of us and when the wife fell with our second child he was even closer to my wife till the day he disappeared to never be seen again, male dogs love to wonder so now only have female cattle dogs.

We have a 125-lb male Great Pyrenees that, although he' really a big pussy, acts as if he's going to tear a stranger's throat out, and he's big enough to pull off the charade. I figure that by the time someone gets past him, I will have plenty of time to grab a ball bat or a hammer and take care of what's left.
My neighbor up the road was apologizing to the UPS guy for his two little yappy dogs raising hell and the delivery guy said, "That's nothin! You should see what's right down the road"
That's what I call perspective.
