Any more photos of the mid-70s John Player Norton Transport? Any images, photos , articles, or infomation appreciated.

ATB,
Rj

I am still getting all the info I can about who all is pictured, etc. The transport was one of few garage model Rectrans Discoverer motorhomes. Built on a Dogge M300 chassis. This model has a 440 cu in engine.

Hi

This sold on e bay in the middle of last year

all the best Chris

Thanks Chris. Do you think that anyone saved the info from the ebay listing? I don't think it is still accessible from the ebay site.

I have been told I have an understanding wife. I am still looking for info on the JPS Transport. Keep me in mind if you have any photos, etc.
BTW, the image is distorted. It is a three photo composite.

I am still looking for help with this project. I have a new lead. UK based MCI magazine did a story on the Transporter in their Sep 73 issue. If anyone has a copy, I would appreciate a ping.

Did it come with any John Player Nortons ? :( . Would get in touch with P.W. and see what he remembers on it . ? :D 8)

THNX. I have contacted with the vendor hoping to that if I don't score (win the auction) that he may be willing to scan the article for a fee. No joy. I don't really blame him for not being willing to record the data. This is not the world we lived in decades ago. I may have cursed my efforts by mentioning it here?
I am still soliciting help from anyone that may have the article. Thirty Seven years in helicopters has shown me never to base your efforts on just one plan.

It just occurred to me! That Sept. '73 MCI 850 Commando test is in the Norton Commando "Gold" Portfolio and later "Ultimate" edition Portfilio!

However the MCI article doesn't even mention the transporter although it is seen in the background in some of the rather low quality bike photos but none of them really show the transporter very well.

Think I will bid 20 pounds on it , Dont Worry . :P   .Go on , dont be a skin flint , 5 Quid.Wotsa New Mag cost these days . 8)

I prevailed on the transaction. Now if the stuff makes it here, I should be alright. I did receive word that the current owner of the original Transporter is closing in on finishing a resto.
Still, any more info would be appreciated.

I note the film commentary [while at the I.o.M. mentions 160+ mph trap speeds being recorded], but - annoyingly - does not specify if it was the J.P.N. machines or J.Findlay's Suzuki TR 750...

I will try to get some of the stuff posted during the Christmas Break. Being an adult has got in the way of some of these important things lately. ATB, Rotorwrinch
