Hi Guys,,

I find the Isolastics on my 1974 MK2 Roaster are in need of shimming, I have checked the gaps and ordered a set of shims..
My question is: the factory manual tells me to make the shim adjustments to the front Iso by adding or subtracting on the L/H side and the rear from the R/H side, would there be any reason why I can not adjust the rear also from the L/H side, it seems far easier to get at by removing the L/H side cover rather than having to remove the oil tank on the R/H side..

I would appreciate your thoughts please ..

Regards from down under
Paul :D

The drive chain pull on the power until skews it in cradle to put more wear forces on the LH front and RH rear iso gap/shims.

I have always adjust them with equal on each side. Such as .010 on the left and .010 on the right. If I have an odd number, I will add or remove .005 to the easiest side, generally the left. Front or rear. I have not had particular issues putting shims on either side. They are both a pain in the ars.

As with many things on theses bikes, once you have done them a few time, it's just a matter of procedure.

Hobat & Pvisseriii ,,

Thanks for your help on this one.. The shims have just arrived so I will have a go at fitting them today, if I have trouble getting at the R/H side rear I will do as Pvisseriii suggests and fit shims from the left, has to be better than it was :D

Cheers
Paul
