Interesting Norton vs Norton article in BIKE Magazine

Eh.

I thought maybe a Dreer Norton vs. a New commando...

Now THAT, I'd pay to see.

A new 961 against an old Dreer 880, I'd put my money on Dreer's 880 any day and
any way measured handling to stopping to hauling ass with front lifting. LIkely smoother too. Against a 500 manx 961 might take it if the track is not to technical.

As I said, the new Norton SHOULD walk away from an 880; I suppose it'll be awhile before we see the results of that actual roundup...

If we could only get our hands on such bikes and take them to the strip...

Nortons don't belong at the strip, they belong in the mountains.

The strip is an almost complete waste of machine, although it can be fun and addicting. I don't like to thrash my bikes to the point of potential/probable blow-up just for fun.

Why would they pick such a slow lap to look at? There are a number of laps around the TT course by Nortons in the sixties and seventies that were over 100mph. Also many sections of the track are faster and improved over the way the track was in the fifties and sixties anyway.....

Why not compare it to some 45 mph Norton TT lap from the early part of the last century if you are looking for a slow lap.

Do a lap on the new POS and then find something to compare it to.

Tom Sanders who lives here in Florida, and who posts regularly on britbike.com, has a gorgeous blue VR 880 with Kiehin FCR 35 carbs. He hangs quite regularly at the Carter Brother's garage in Altoona Fl and showed up at last year's Vintage Races in Daytona on his awesome machine. Sounded bloody great!!!
