In case anyone's been following the Norton 961 saga...

Not sure if anybody else saw this, but here's an interview with Kenny Dreer from last month:

Looks like the whole thing is basically down the toilet now that Dreer's out. Take a look at the "Sound Off" link at the bottom too - Kenny himself posts a few times and gives some more insight.
Disappointing - the 961 looked like it had serious potential.

And on the European front...

More recent UK/European Norton news in the press is that Norton Motors GmbH headed by Joe Seifert has bought the Andover Norton International Company from the BSA Regal Group.
Andover Norton International being the distributor of Commando parts. Norton Motors GmbH, Norton Motors Limited (Norton Rotaries), and Andover Norton are now all part of the same group.
Apparently the Andover Norton operation will be moving to new premises during September.

Out of interest Les how does that all fit in with the new NRV588 which, incidentally, I actually heard running at Mallory this year and did it sound wicked  . Is that in any way connected with Norton Motors Ltd (Norton Rotary) or was it a one-off build sponsered by the National Motorcycle Museum :?:
It would be great if a road version was built - the modern F1 :!:

Hmmm... I always get nervous when these big buyouts happen. Time to start stocking up on some factory parts...?

Does that mean the Dreer kits are never going to happen? I read somewhere Mr. Dreer was going to offer the bikes in a kit form.

Hi Folks-
Maybe I'm flogging the obvious here, but what about Mr. Bloor as a likely buyer for Norton? Manufacturing capability, dealer network in place, rescuing another Olde British Marque, NVT history, prestige line for the showrooms (How many Bonnies would that sell from lookers at the Norton?).....................
Oversimplified?

I'm not sure John Bloor is interested in acquiring the Norton name?
As there's nothing he could do with it that he couldn't do using a Triumph badge, I would expect that if anyone was to show serious interest it would be Joe Seifert?

Front page news in the latest edition of 'Dealer News' as seen at my local motorcycle shop, as I waited for one of my bikes to go through its MOT (yearly inspection test) I read that the Indian Bajaj Co. http://www.bajajauto.com/1024/index.asp were interested in buying the Hinckley Triumph Co.
Apparently they had already tried to buy Ducati but had been unsuccessful!!

The current one for Ducati at the moment is Harley D.
I'll keep my opinon to that one to myself - don't want to offend anyone

Yeah, the Harley buyout rumors come up every year. The possible jokes are endless

This year's rumor cycle lasted longer than usual because there was some e-zine that wrote an article about it, making the story sound somewhat more credible.
