How to adhere footpeg rubbers?

Anyone found a good method? I've tried windex, WD-40, tire-mounting lube (RUglyde), various glues, silicone, and electrical tape. None really work. The tape may be the best I've found, and all that does for me is delay the creeping outward of the rubber so you have a better chance to spot it and tap it back inwards before it drops to the road and is lost.

Contact cement.
Slips on, stays put.
Drill a 1/16" hole in the end first (invisible on the mold part line)

I weigh 240, stand up & ride for miles & miles (to stretch my knees, back) always tight.

Wash I.D. of the the rubber with brakleen, rag & screwdriver. Wash O.D. of steel peg. Slather the contact cement generously inside & out. Push on.
Wipe off excess with rags & brakleen.
Let sit overnight.

Mine are on dry. Have found a difference between rubber from different suppliers. RGM tend to be quite harder and longer lasting than AN. Thisclokely contributes to how well they stay in place.
Have had sets from unknown makers that last only a few months before showing lots of wearing down.

On my Velocette kickstart lever, the rubber is always needing a shove back on after a few kicks. Unlike Commando, the kicker does not have a sleeve to let rubber rotate. Many velos have the kicker end drilled, tapped for a screw and washer to trap rubber on shaft.

My foot peg rubbers stay put without anything, they are a tight fit the original rubbers lasted the longest before they were toast from wear, going hard and slitting, the first replacement rubbers only lasted a short time but about 13 years ago I ordered parts from RGM with 3 sets on new foot peg rubbers on the list, so far the first ones I put on are still hanging in there after 13 years and have 2 spare set waiting, same with the gear lever and kick start rubber, my kick start lever is the folding T160 long lever and I had to cut the Norton rubber down to fit, but it has hanged in there as well with the new rubber from RGM.
Some after market foot peg rubbers are so bad they just don't last less than 6 months but the RGM rubbers seem to be so much better and a tight fit, haven't had one slip off yet in 13 years of riding, but had to use a soft face hammer to knock them on.

I use blue thread locker. Not perfect, but vastly better than nothing. Also works well on hand grips.
