For a '74 850 Mk2 - Hagon model No: 33002SS.

The top bushes are too wide at: 0.95in (original Girlings 0.75in)

Rather than faff around swapping the shocks, can new bushes be purchased?

They're the correct shocks but have the wrong upper bushes.

"33002SS

Length: 12.9", 12+7/8" (330mm) between eyelet centres
Top bush ID: 3/8" (10mm)
Top bush width: 11/16" (18mm) for 3/4" mounting points
Bottom bush ID: 3/8" (10mm)
Bottom bush width: 11/16" (18mm) for 3/4" mounting points"

My Hagons which are the adjustable damping type are 0.7" wide at the top bush. The frame plates are not heavy gauge and I will need to spread them slightly if I ever change shocks but Hagon know the specs.

Ahh, thank you.

I won't try spreading the frame plates, I'll try & get hold of the correct bushes 👍

A few years ago I was building a 71 Bonneville and someone had drilled the upper mounts for 14 mm bolts. I had a new set of Hagon shocks for a Bonneville but the top mount needed different bushes. Hagon had a US office at the time. I called and described the issue and in a few days, I had the right bushes at no cost.

Hopefully, there is a UK number to call.

A steady head
An angle grinder
A flap disc and a spot of paint will sort them out in minutes 👍

Mine are part number 7610-1429 for my 850 MK3, and I've had no trouble fitting them.

I popped a question off to Hagon yesterday re the availability of 'correct' bushes - I've yet to hear back, but I'm in no rush.

I do wonder why the bushes are too wide if they're for my bike, and also which Commando model requires the wider ones?

I do wonder why the bushes are too wide if they're for my bike,...

The correct widths for the upper and lower bushes (both 19mm) are listed in my old Hagon catalogue so the 0.95" upper bush I would think is an error because it doesn't fit any Commando.

...and also which Commando model requires the wider ones?

The Hagon (and original Girling) 850 Mk3 lower bushes would be 0.95"/24mm. (Hagon 543-33004 ).
