Harley Davidson PANICS Sends EMERGENCY Email To Outraged Employees! Sturgis Is A Disaster! - harley woke backlash

I’m not a woke fan, but I don’t believe Harleys problems are due to that personally.

Prices have skyrocketed. Harleys have always been expensive (generally) but prices since pre covid have climbed a LOT.

Plus, interest rates are now really high, which when added to the higher retail price, really bites for those wanting to finance.

That puts newcomers to the brand off. And it puts owners of older Harleys in a position where the cost to change is just WAY to high, especially when they compare what they’d get with what they already have.

Many don’t really think that the last few years have actually led to better bikes than before. I have a 2016 Fat Boy S (110 twin cam) and test rode a new Fat Boy 114 a little while ago. I hated the thing. I wouldn’t swap mine for a new one if they paid ME and I think many riders feel the same way.

You guys in America and the UK have my absolute sympathy. In Australia, we are accustomed to helping each other. The 'them and us' thing is less pronounced.

I have thought about Harley Sportsters, but don't like their frames, and Buells were ugly. As I understand it the 5th gear in the 5 speed Sportster's box is an overdrive - doesn't sound good to me. To make it better might require remanufacture of the gear set ?

I'm assuming u are taking new bikes fs

as far as sportsters today goes

Sportster S and Nightster

In 2021, Harley-Davidson launched the completely redesigned Sportster S with the new Revolution Max 1250T stressed member engine and described it as a "sports custom motorcycle".

In an independent review, UK publisher Bennetts commented that: "Despite the Sportster moniker, the new bike’s specs mean it’s got more in common with the old V-Rod than its namesakes. By the end of its life, the V-Rod had a 1247cc, water-cooled, DOHC V-twin making 125hp, putting it within spitting distance of the new Sportster’s 1252cc and 121hp.

But the old bike was a much heftier machine, coming in at around 300kg depending on which version you picked, where the Sportster S is a relatively lithe 228kg ready-to-ride. The result means the Sportster will be a significantly better-performing machine, both in a straight line and around corners, than the old V-Rod." The Sportster S was soon followed by the Nightster and Nightster Special, both powered by the new and smaller Revolution™ Max 975T engine (90 HP at 7,500 RPM and 70 LB-FT at 5,000 RPM) with 2-into-1 exhaust at a lower price point.

2025 Sportster S
121 horsepower

Engineered to thrill, the Sportster® S is built around the big and powerful Revolution® Max 1250T engine that puts out 121 horsepower and 93 ft-lb of torque. With rider-assist electronics, optimized handling, and a lightweight frame, this next-generation Sportster is all about performing rather than conforming.

Harley Davidson dealership in Cambridge set to close

The doors at Blackbridge Harley Davidson will be shuttered for good at the end of June. CTV’s Karis Mapp finds out why.

I had to Google the Fat Boy 114 as I'm out of date with Harleys and I had to smile when I noted the dry weight lives up to its name, Lol !!

304 Kgs dry versus 190 Kgs dry for a Commando .... wow !! ( Google weights but close enough )

With a fat Hog as a rider I'd have to wonder if the tyres were up to spec .........
