I've finally finished changing the brooder house into a shop/garage that I can keep warm this winter. My next step was to get a lift for the Roadster. I ended up with the cheapest Harbor Freight full table model, mainly because it's all they stock and wouldn't order the fancier models. The wheel clamp is worthless, so I thought I would put one of their wheel chocks to hold the scoot up until I could strap it up. My exhaust system caused me to remove my center stand, and I wasn't going to reattach the stand until I get it up in the air.
Anyway, the chock just doesn't work very well for me, I've tried every adjustment, but I think the bike would almost fall over if I let it . My side stand actually worked fine on the lift anyway, so I may as well have saved my money. The chock must be for thicker tire and wheel cross section. I wouldn't put it in the chock and walk away from it, like the box says.

Once I attached the center stand, it's all good again.

The actual lift is good, I really like it.

We bought one of those wheel chocks from Harbor Freight for $50 when we went to pick up my Commando from Chicago last August. Worked great! We also used the chock to pick up this awful chopper from Missouri a few weeks ago.

IMO, it's a solid piece, especially for $50. We've definitely gotten our money out of it. :)

Nice lift--I like! Seems a bit better than our setup, with sawhorses and a large board to support the bike..lol

I tried all three heights for the bail, and none would hold the bike upright on it's own. I mean it could still lean way the hell over. If yours held it securely, I must be missing something.

Mine seems ok. Granted we always secure it tightly with tie-downs as well.. Not sure if it would hold the bike on its own as we never really tried.

I don't know about the wheel chock, but I think the table you have is the same as mine and I haven't had any issues with the wheel clamp that comes with it. The clamp appears to be just a front end stabilizer, but with the center stand and no straps I haven't encountered any issues this winter. Wheel chock looks nice though.

Maybe the chocks are designed for they typical sport bike's wider and shorter wheels/tires? Maybe tack weld a section of tubing in there to make a tighter fit? Maybe tack it on the high side of the hoops to move the contact points with the sides of the tire higher?

The directions with the chock claim you can put the bike in and walk away, but for transporting they 'recommend' strapping for added security. It does work well with center stand, now that I have the center stand on again, it's secure now, and it does look good, like you said. And I can roll the whole thing around safely. But I didn't know the side stand was going to work just fine, holding it up until I had the straps on, so I really didn't need the chock.

I think you are right, maybe a modern sport bike's fatter and lower wheel/tire is what it's designed for.

Well then, just ship it my way, free of charge (of course). I'll gladly put it to use. :p

Go Cats!

LOL! Hey, I'm always up for free stuff, and I LOOOOOOOOVE Harbor Freight. Cheap Chinese tools FTW!

The Cat's aren't doing so well this year..I have to focus on my Commando to take the edge off! lol

I am making a wheel chock for my Commando to mount at the front of my utility trailer.

I want it to hold the bike upright while I tie it down. ie. support a single handed operation.

It's important that the design provide for adjustment in width due to the need to firmly hold the bike. I can't send a photo yet, but each side is "C" shaped to match the wheel profile, with one side fixed to a base. The other side adjusts side to side with wing nuts in 3 locations.

I think it should work fine & even accommodate the BMW, which has a very different front wheel.

I purchased a Ranger lift table for my shop, but the wheel vice it came with just didn't cut it, I added the K&L and my issues vanished:
