I've recently found something that some/many of you may already know.
It's heavy duty heat shrink.
I have bought it in 12mm and 22mm sizes so far. It is much thicker and more durable than normal stuff.
Typical application, for me, is the 12mm on the front half of the rear brake cable (where the tortuous path wears the outer off.
Look up (eBay?) CABAC SMDW12/3TK for example. (12mm & 3mm thick)
Also has much more shrinkage than normal thin stuff.
So... look up CABAC SMDW etc, ect
Cheers
