If I knew the total cost of what I've spent on my hot rod commando then, and GPaul was offering his hot rod up for $9500, I woulda jumped on it.

I must be a complete idiot putting more time than that in an engine allone , while having a fully equipped workshop ..

Why do you need so much time to build an engine? Do you not know what you are doing?
You should be able to strip a complete engine in a day or two. Then clean (if you count cleaning hours) and reassemble. How many billable hours would that be? 30? 40?
Keep in mind that Paul may farm out some tasks that you do yourself. Also he may not count every minute on every project.

But seriously :
I am pretty shure I could trow an engine together in less time than it takes some to put a dyna coil on their bike , but if you want to do everything right , it takes time . Ok, maybe not 150 h , but still..

If something needs to be done right, it does indeed take time.
An old saying I have is "shit does not just happen, shit takes time."

Ironically Coco shows up. If anyone asks why my bike isn't running yet I can always point at Coco who's been working on his for a lot longer than I have. Thanks Coco!
Of course his will be much nicer than mine...
