Incidentally the unusually slow lap times recorded on the Wednesday times sheet were occasioned by a crash that resulted in a machine fire which spread to set light to the road surface, as a result of which the session was red flagged, and all riders were allowed to eventually proceed on their way under a yellow flag. Those riders affected by the fire were assigned a lap time purely for the purpose of recording that they had completed the lap. The rest of the evening practice was cancelled owing to the need to resurface the road
I still keep in touch with Patrick and have had regular updates on the progress of the Godet Vincent Comet... I would have loved to have seen and heard that 100mph lap !!
