Get yer motor runnin’ ...:

Last weekend I took my 6 year-old grand-daughter into my shed and we carefully measured the trail on the Seeley. I am now actually on the way to doing what needs to be done with it. But my helper will be the 4-year old. Kids like to share and Isla will probably want to share the parts which come from pulling my gearbox apart. She likes to help her grand-dad do things. If she gets into my shed she always takes a spanner to my bike and tries all the nuts.

If I was you Al I would get that Norton of your's road legal and enjoy it while you can and get out into those back roads, if you are worried about dying before next Xmas then I wouldn't be worried about cars or traffic on the roads.

Ash, that was suggested to me previously by one of my mates. He was also the guy who said 'if you've got a torquey motor, you don't need a close ratio gearbox'. - I thought about both of those suggestions for about 5 seconds. If I wanted a road bike, I would buy a postie bike, that way I might keep my licence. If I put the Seeley on the road, even first gear would be too fast - what would I do with the rest ? One thing I know about dying is that one day it is certainly going to happen to me. - Before I go, I want one more race on the Seeley, just to prove it can do what it should. If a stroke gets me while racing, at least I will have died happy. But under a car would be bad.

File under: 'It Had To Be Done'... or: 'Protecting My Sanity' perhaps? After weeks of being a good little citizen and following Uncle Bojo to the letter, increasing dissatisfaction with the 'rules' from above saw me close to causing an incident in the local supermarket... SO..... Taking dead Freddie's advice, time for the Norton to assume it's primary role of head clearer :)
After a quick flick with the feather duster (yes, really!) it repays my attentions by firing up second kick... atta boy!! Nothing heroic, just a hour playing on B roads and back roads, love the: 'Sack of spuds' slouch I have to adopt, surprisingly comfortable and the new shock absorbers doing their bit too. Love that the black caps are nicely subdued too, polite waves from horse riders as I dribble past, and a rock steady idle at the traffic lights with NO 'throttle blipping!! gets approval as well.
Post ride it's nice to note an absence of external lubricants (better check there's some internally!), the new AN scrolled tacho drive doing an excellent job where garter seals et al all eventually failed. Only blot on the copybook: New 13mm rear master cylinder lost it's cap and bellows... Fortunately I still have the OE one which fits but it's a b*gger to remove.. Still, better that than t'other way.
Did pass a few other two wheelers, some acknowledge... some don't. Lotus Elan and Fairthorpe Electron too, getting their exercise....
Norton riding: 'More smiles per mile.' Stay safe out there, people :)
Definitely "more smiles per mile". I'm finding that now it's run in, any excuse is a good one and the long way home the best option. Luckily we have a good choice of 'back roads' around here, the bike loves them!

And they're not an embarrassment or liability should you wish to use the motorway, either... Win/win :)

Well our restrictions have been lifted we can now travel in our own state as far as we want, our borders are still closed but we have our freedom to travel our state, go camping, stay overs, but we still got to be careful, the GOV is going to keep a close watch in how things pan out, so far we are still on top of it, but our winter is now here.

Yesterday, I was up the road a bit in the next town. I was actually able to sit down and have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. The people in the café keep a record of their customers' names and phone number. I'm OK with that. I don't know when we will get back into motor sport. But I am beginning to feel a bit better about things in that arena.

Thankfully, here in Texas, we were never restricted from freely riding pretty much anywhere we like, as long as we didn't gather in a group at any given point...

Same here in Georgia. Sorry for all those that had to succumb to your government taking away your civil liberties.

Sadly, the riots & looting in this country COULD result in even MORE civil liberties, including riding motorcycles, being restricted. Let's hope this cr@p gets settled down soon...

Ready for a 3000 km trip, a soon as the gate and the border with France opens, 7 days from now.
mm.. which one shall I take..?

3000km...
Personally, I’d be taking the one without clip ons !
Can we look forward to some more post tour pics please ?

Actually, the one with the clip ons is more comfortable on long distance:

But the red one is better on rougher roads and for sightseeing :

(BTW: 1m over the white line is a drop of a few 100 m, and no guard rail..)

Just shows how in time our bikes really only fit ourselves. Doubt anybody would be able to even ride mine. Even things like your shoe size factor in.
