Questions on gerotor pumps: trying to adapt a Honda pump to old britbike. Is it necessary to have the pockets around the ports on both ends of the pump covers? Only one end need have
ports, the output port with the long tract is not needed in my application. Can I simply use a flat cover plate here, no pockets?

A lot of gerotor pumps use one flat side. I am trying to recall a good example - but I am having a brain fart right now - lol

Edit: looks like some BBC and Mopar Hemi engines use single sided gerotor pumps - FWIW.

If you look at the stock Honda pump you can see the pockets or wells in the covers are very shallow and the depth of the rotor quite deep. I have another Honda gerotor where the depth of the rotor is quite shallow with deeper wells. Is there a ratio for this?

A flat sided gerotor pump from a Briggs & Stratton single cylinder engine, runs off the cam and engine rated for 3300rpm.
