Hi my 850 Mke3 is a great bike to ride but has developed an annoying problem
I can't get neutral from 1st gear. Thought it was clutch drag so replaced all the working parts in the clutch, everything now mics up to correct spec.,even put a seal on the clutch pushrod all to no avail. It's got to be something in the gearbox ( all new about 8000 miles ago ).It's quite smooth 1st to and 2nd and OK from neutral to 1st .Anybody out there had the same problem ?
If so what is the solution?

It certainly has the symptoms of a primary chain that is out of adjustment, as per Juice's comment. Perhaps one of your chain tensioner plungers is in a bind and will not allow sufficient slack in the chain? Or, did you put super-heavy weight oil in the primary?

Please keep us aprised of what you find.

My first question would be .... After you changed the clutch did it work any better ?

Had the exact same problem using the sintered bronze clutch plates. Replaced them with Surflex plates and problem went away.

Not sure whether you changed the clutch center or not . If you didn't take a look at the spines and see if they are worn.

Good Luck
