fork stanchion question

I am bringing a 1967, G15 CS back to life.

This machine was converted into a chopper many decades ago and has sat neglected for decades now.

Fortunately, the motor runs and the transmission shifts. I have all the big parts, correct frame, brakes drums, etc.

Someone decided to stretch out the front end. They did this by welding an extension onto the bottom tree, and then extending the fork stanchions.

The rake in the neck is stock, and I have gotten the proper lower tree.

My big problem right now is getting the correct front fork parts. My sliders appear stock, but the fork stanchions are all wrong.

They are about 28 inches long. I want to replace them, but can't seem to find the correct ones. My manual says the G15 should have "inner tubes" 2 inches longer. Stock Roadhandlers are, I believe, about 21.

Does that mean two inches longer than the Roadhandler forks? I am not sure which forks I'm looking for.

I also need the outer springs for these forks. The gaiters appear plentiful, but I cannot find the springs anywhere.

The G15 series did NOT use Teledraulic forks, as fitted to the P11 !!!

G/N15CS springs changed to internal starting in'66, I believe. PN 067723, #10 in Knut's link are what I fitted to my N15CS, SN119799 (late '66 or early '67).

The 24.93" stanchions are part #1, PN 030036. The longer stanchions and damper tubes are the only two differences I found vs. 'normal' Roadholders of the era.

The damper tubes are PN 030037, and are 10.75" long - about 2" longer. They are omitted (#9) from Andover's text description & PN search, but I found them here, out of stock. Baxter has them:

After starting the disassembly, it began to appear these may be the right forks! I have taken some photos for you all to review and I cannot post them to the forum.

I measured from the top of the fork tube, to top of slider of with slider cover removed. To where the fork actually goes into the slider and the seals are, is about 25.5 inches. To the top of the slider is 25 3/8. That is with internal springs removed, and the oil drained. I'm sure there is a distance to go into the slider past the seals.

Does this seem right? I am concerned because the forks appear to have machined ends in the sliders. I find it hard to believe that anyone made extended forks for these back in the 60's-70's. I am hesitant to disasseble the sliders just yet, and would like to mock up the bike before complete rebuild.

I am replying to myself to make sure I keep you all updated. I took the the forks apart today. It was surprisingly painless and easy. The stanchions I have are 35 1/8 inch long from the very top to the very bottom. The inner slider rod is 30 1/8 inch long. I'm trying to figure all this mystery out.
