I'd wondered if it could be done without the usual faff of taking the fork top nuts and clock mounts off and slowly pouring in the oil without it spelching out and upsetting how much has gone in.

It's certainly not quick and the right size tube (from a suspended funnel) and grommet helps.
But it can be done.
 
Yes, remove the damper rod and slowly pour in new oil. DO NOT pump the forks with the damper rod out or
you will see lots of oil flying far into the air.
 
Still pays to take the slider off and clean. The debris is down in the bottom of said tube. It is a annoying job but best to do it more often than you would think.

Yep, they had a good clean when they were fully stripped when I fitted the dampers last year.
