These are fairly simple to fit but you will probably have them on and off a few times in the process. You preset the slides to 20thou lift from closed but on the engine side (due to the slide shape) then stick them on the bike. Sorting the fuel lines is the most diffcult bit and then getting the cables lifting at exactly the same time. I used a screwdriver as a stethoscope. Got the tank on and fired it up. It starts much easier than the VM34mm Mikuni I took off. The tick over was a bit high at the 20 thou lift setting so I tweaked the slide screws and then ended up with one air screw 1/4 turn out as recommended and the other a 1/2 turn out. The bike seemed to be hanging on the cables and the tickover was a bit erratic but I took it for a run anyway.
Boy it growls and is still as torquey. :D
It faltered on the throttle at about 70mph as I accelerated which I suspected was a fueling issue. When home I realised that the bike was low on fuel and also that there was a large airlock in the two fuel lines above the carbs. I will reroute tomorrow. It was erratic on tickover still and spitting back. Also the cables had changed so I synch them again; that always seems to happen when the tank goes back on.
Carbs look great and I am definitely going to be the fastest Commando around Mallory Park in July :D

Good going, Fred!

I have had my JS Motorsport flat slides since Jim starting offering them and they are great.

With a cold motor, I pull up both chokes and still open the throttle a quarter turn and then a good kick or two gets the fuel drawing through and into the combustion chambers. Just as soon as the motor is running I take the chokes off and hold the idle with the throttle around 1200rpm and take off pretty much right away.

With the motor warm, I find I still need to open the throttle a quarter turn with a good kick to get gas drawing.

Glad you are liking them, I sure do, and Jim is a great guy to buy them from with his followup support.
