fav artists in different genres of music?

Personally I prefer the original. The line "hello darkness my old friend..." has a touching backstory that you may not have read...
Thank you - I never knew the backstory. The Sound of Silence is in my top 10 even though I was never a Simon and Garfunkel fan or of folk music. There are many covers of it that I like as well as the original. I really like the power of the Disturbed version.

Another that is better than the original IMHO, except this is the same people with help:

I don’t know that.

What a story !

Here's a good song than many would call a great song and I say has been made better than the original by a most unlikely group:

If this doesn't make your heart pump.....

Good one Greg, added to my play list.

Gotta Say that I would have avoided this like the plague but glad I didn’t. Very good cover ( improvement? ) of the original and great video as well. Thanks for the ear and eye opener .

It kept coming up on YouTube and I kept ignoring it. Then one day I didn't and was very glad I didn't. Since then, I've seen him describing how it came about and I've seen interviews with him. He and his music are quite different. Still am not a fan of their other music but can better appreciate it now.

To me, it's now the gold standard of that song,

For Stevie Nicks fans. Edge of Seventeen is one of my favorites and she does it best. But this is a young Romanian group who does a cover I like:

See they do Radar Love too - very good but not Golden Earring standard!

My favourite driving song of all time!! (Frankenfurter on lead vocals)

I can easily ignore most current music and I'm amazed that rap has lasted for so long.
I have found a couple of artists that are really good. I am not able to post any of their songs but perhaps someone here can. Give them a listen.

BILLY STRINGS...... Dust in a Baggie & Ain't Nothin To Me

DRIVE BY TRUCKERS.....Perfect Timing & Guns of Umpqua

They both have lots of good songs

I've never seen Billy Strings live, but I have seen Marcus King about 4 times. First time in 2017 he was driving with the band in a Ford Econoline pulling a MC trailer full of gear. Asbury Park, NJ. Here's another one of Marcus playing with Billy Strings. And here's the Marcus King Band... Awesome. Here's a pic of Marcus autographing my leather right next to Johnny Winter. They all like to sign next to Johnny or Gregg Allman.

Saw Billy Strings this year in AC - just an incredible musician . Big venues/ crowds aren’t my thing but it was worth it .
I was going to post the Carter Guitars vid Summertime but you beat me to it . A really wonderful piece - when I first discovered it I binge watched/listened to it about a dozen times .
Beyond Billy Strings prowess as a musician I am in awe of level of intensity he ( and all his band really ) can play at for hours .
Amazing .

Yeah RT, I figured living down LBI near PJ, you would like the Summertime thing. You should check out the Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton, only seats 50 people. Go see Joe Zook or Billy Hector coming there soon, you will love them. NJ guys. BYOB. Here's Billy on my Harley at the Hedger House, Chatsworth, I really miss that place.

Been to Lizzie Rose a few times - nice venue but I got tired of them passing the hat - once is bad enough after paying for tickets but three times ?
Hot Diggidy Dog in down Chatsworth is more my speed .
Guess you miss the Green Bank Tavern as well , eh ?

Sure do RT, that used to be one of the stops on my Pine Barrens run. First stop, The Hedger House, then the Greenbank Tavern for lunch, next up 9 to LBI, Barnegat Light, Rick's American Cafe and have a seat near the water. When I was about 10, I caught Tog off that little jetty @ the lighthouse. It was about 20" long and bent my boat pole. After Rick's back to the mainland and more back roads, maybe a stop at The Woodshed. Nice little 130 mile ride.

Last time I tried to stop at the Greenbank, 10 years ago it was closed. I think the owner died. They used to have bands in the "pit" on the side of the building. The Woodshed and the Hedger house were owned by Vince Heinrich. One day while doing an insurance inspection at the Woodshed, he told me his cousin owned the Greenbank. Before the demise of the Woodshed and the Hedger House, Vince was holding the mortgage for the new "owners". They both defaulted and remain empty today.

A little Pine Barrens history for you. I would like to stop at that place I've seen you mention, "Motts Creek", but haven't been out that way lately. Have a Great New Year!
