I had a previous helicoil sparkplug insert repair fail, backed out with the plug. I replaced it with a time sert big sert which is designed to repair failed helicoil inserts. I did it with the head on the bike and then got concerned about how close it was to the valve so ended up pulling the head. Here's what it looks like.
It cut threads right up to the back of the valve seat but the seat itself appears undamaged. In a few days, I will get the valve and spring back in and check for sealing.
This is from another angle. As can be seen the insert does not reach all the way to combustion chamber face but is recessed a few mm.
Here's the other side for comparison
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
