I am planning to order these Norton Commando Superblend type bearings as mainbearings in a custom Vincent engine. Is the outer race without a lip, in other words are the inner race, brass cage and rollers free to slide in and out of the outer race as a unit?
This is necessary for the application planned and it is difficult to tell from photos.

Thanks
Glen

Thank Les, the diagram is a huge help. Looks like I will need the either the n or nf style.

Thanks Pete, the photos tell me for sure the nj type wont work for this. I found some n type for a mere $220 each!

At that price I'd be tempted to machine off both inner race retaining Lips and polish up. :|

Starting to think that maybe these FAG E &M1 spec bearings are overkill for this job. They are needed on a flexy Commando crank but this crank is built like the Forth Railway Bridge. On top of that there are four, yes four mainbearings.

The enemy of good is better.Duck's that will always make much more T&H run very much smaller plain ball bearings and never break. And single 500 Nortons have even bigger bearings than Commandos.
