I purchased an exhaust port tap from Tim K. Ran it thru my ports today, A little funny looking tool. Nothing like overly big items.
Just looks wierd, and was a little ackward to use, its heavy.

Wouldn't be cheap, I have a full set of tread files and if my exhaust tread needs cleaning up I just run the tread file around it, have only needed to do this once in the 36 years of owning my 850 I always make sure when screwing the exhaust clamps in that they start smoothly and sit straight before tighting them in, plus I make sure my headers sit loosely in the head before I do the clamps up.

Carbon steel bottom plugs can be had for $150.00. HSS are in the $200.00 and up range. That one is really long for a bottom plug. Thread restorers are best for just cleaning threads and reshaping them however that size is likely a special order and would be pricey. Actual cutting taps will cut whatever is in their path and best for tapping new inserts.

It was around $100. I wanted to chase my ports and have been toying around with doing port repairs for some time now. Another project to throw into the backlog.

Good score if it's in good shape and it sure looks like it is. I've used hack saws, files and just about anything to dress up threads but that's about the only thing that could save my head on my norvil styled bike. If I could stretch just one more season out of my head by running a tap through it before sending it out for inserts I would consider that a worthwhile investment. and uh, I'm not jealous or envious or anything like that...
