Ever thought of buying a moped?

Got to like the idea of cheap, cheap to run, and easily replaceable. Oh, and not likely to get speeding tickets

I thought they were just kids having fun untill they stole and burnt one.
Umm, there was some attraction though,... beer, drunk young females, nude dancing.
Whaack, that was the sound of a fully clad older female striking a fully clad older male on the back of the head.
hehehehehe.
After she hit me she said.. " What, then you fell out of bed and woke up "
yeah yeah.

The truth is anything over 250 cc is pure luxury expense and by rights mopeds and scooters should inherit the roads.

I have a 76 Garelli 50cc. Now I know why it makes me feel like a bad-ass when I ride it.

Just think what hobot could do with one of these and a pair of ape-hangers! 8)

What's not to like?

Timeless classic...

A while back, wife and I took a trip to Honolulu, something we do every year or so. Cruise the island, enjoy the nightlife, and she shops.

Well it was a saturday, and she took off with our rented Dodge avenger (don't ask) to spend my money at ala moana, the biggest mall for 2500 miles. After an hour or so of watching bikinis, I decided to rent an almost new sportster.... until I saw the price of $120 a day! So, I rented a little chinese (or korean) 50cc scooter, for $30.

I had never ridden one before, and really did not know what to expect. But what I got, was hours of good fun. Full throttle everywhere, and no shifting! On the urban roads of Honolulu, it was a great ride, and kept up with-and passed lotsa cars. I could not see taking it out in the country though, just not enough power to feel safe. For that reason, I don't think I'd buy one, unless I lived in a city, then I would not hesitate... but it would have to be at least a 250.

I thought about it, but no way. They don't do anything but get hit or run off the road here, and I don't even live in a city. Just last week someone hit a moped in a hit and run, dragged the body about a half mile, and kept right on going.

I do think they are cool though.

That is what got me in this mess. I was looking for one similar to the one I had 30 years ago to wrench on. It was Bianchi/Snark. I was checking CL last year and came upon the CB 360 that I have and am now looking to sell. Never ridden a motorcycle before. I took my son to test ride it. Now I have a 1980 Goldwing and am selling the CB to get a Norton. MBS has hit me bad. So yes, I have thought about it.

Don't feel too bad drones, that's how it started for many of us :D
I too (and many others on this site) have a motorcycle addiction, as far as I know there is no cure or subsitute and to think that my first "hit" was just a little 25 quid Puch Maxi 25 years ago and it's been downhill ever since

Ugh parts if me is so addicted to cycles its scares the crap out of the rest of me, so constantly conflicted to get back into ultralights or cave diving or over powered 3 point hydroplanes or maybe jet ski in the raw creeks and shallow rivers here.

My buddy Wesley makes up 50-60 cc bicycle conversions that are cute as can be and handy as can be at Barbar's or school campus but totally unfit to go 30 mph on any rough surface as rims can fold right up and brakes can stop a downhill coast let alone squeal tire in traffic crisis. More practical and comfortable are step through scooters but who here but me care to be associated with the mods.

I'm seriously thinking about a flag pole on my bikes with LEDs to snag attention even if sneers from real bikers.

I rescued a 57 Cushman from a dumpster once at a tire shop as I waited for my new truck tires. Totaly complete & was so much fun, two speed side shift. I found out later that it was only one of seven that had been sitting in there shop for years, collected by a long gone employee. All six of the others were put in a dumpster & taken to a land fill!!!

In France this was the only transporation when you were 14... I still have mine but not a 2 strokes nor auto clutch...3 hand gears, SOHC and so slow!!!
