This Gentleman does a great job of keeping up with 70s works riders Mick Grant (RG500) and Steve Parrish (GSXR750?) during parade laps at Scarborough's Oliver's Mount circuit. He's mounted on a humble ES2 (although it sounds to me as if it is a twin).

Scarborough, as you can see, is a circuit with a lot of character (read run off areas full of trees). If Hobbits raced motorcycles the "Middle Earth GP" would be on a track just like this.

I believe this may have been a Barry Sheene memorial meeting. It's ironic that Scarborough should honour Barry in this way: In the late 70's Grant was the local hero and, in comparison Sheene was regarded as a "flash southern git". I seem to remember some unsporting spectators, obviously unimpressed by the circuits natural dangers, would attempt to liven things up by poking sticks through the fences as Sheene rode by. To his credit Sheene kept coming back for more.

The ES2 rider is saved the tough decision of whether or not to pass Grant & Parrish when his primary belt throws in the towel.

Location of 1st JPN F750 win, by Mick Grant.
Those very grunty ex-speedway mills give the pukka Manx-wanx types conniptions.
