My 74 MK2A Roadster was purchased by an American GI in September 1974 at Elite Motors in London for $1800.

Elite Motors London - Decal

I thought it would be cool to have an Ellite Motors decal on my bike. A quick Google search found what I was looking for. https://www.isaydingdong.co.uk/ours...ooting-Car-Motorcycle-Dealers-Sticker-25.html

In the UK the date is written as day/month/year so that's 9th May 1974.
Edit:
"Date of delivery 9/5/74 (9/May/74)"
"Date of original registration 19 JUN 1974"

That's right! Momentary brain flatulence!

My very late (May 1970) green 'S' was originally sold by Elite Motors - this could be just the thing, once I start putting it together, of course...

I remember taking a trip (took ages on the tube) to Elite on a visit to London in the mid 70's, before I was old enough to ride anything bigger than my Ducati 250.
It was a very impressive sight all those Triumphs and Nortons lined up. They were the biggest Triumph dealer in the UK at that time I believe, Gus Kuhn and Sports (Manchester) probably bigger Norton wise.
The chief mechanic was Dave Robinson who later set up a Triumph outfit in Wandsworth (about 3 miles from Elite) not far from me in Putney. I saw him once or twice tooling around on a '69 bonnie. He moved on to Ducatis (it's still there) and for a notorious curmudgeon, couldn't have been more helpful with advice on a Ducati cafe racer I was fixing up for a friend. Apologies for the lack of Norton content but the thread brought back a few memories!

Impressed with the exchange rate, that is nigh on $2.50 : £1

p.s. POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!
That rate sounds right. I went across the channel heading for London Feb 1975 from my air base in Germany. 2.5 dollars to the pound is what I remember. I still have Schillings from that trip.
