using after market air cleaner and my key switch hangs loose, does this need to be earthed, as I was thinking of a simple fix like valcro. Alternative I could drill a 20mm hole in side cover and attach it like the 70? Im near and yet so far with electrics. New loom coming up. Thoughts thanks Gents

another question, the two way light switch has 4 different positions, same as old switch, original wiring (sigh) has both groups of wires Blue and Yellow/blue connected on same side, side by side. I've hooked new switch to suit this but it doesn't look right. besides I have no main beam light working either. Lucas prince of darkness strikes again. I have the Bill Turnbull Jan 2013 coloured wiring diagram

If I remember correctly the original diagram showed brown/green and blue/yellow connected to the wrong ignition switch terminals. Brown/green should connect to ignition switch terminal 3 and blue/yellow to terminal 4.

What's the switch number? If the low/dip beam works then the problem isn't with the headlamp switch but I wouldn't expect the wires to be connected to the same side of the switch.

Yes, the wires on ignition switch terminals 3 and 4 are incorrect (terminals 3 and 4 are actually numbered incorrectly).
Should be.

ignition switch terminals all connected correctly brown/green to 3, blue /yellow to 4 as per Grant Tiller Jan 2020 colour diagram

To L.A.B. two-way toggle light switch 31780 34660 06-8024 both wires connected to one side of switch - no main light
31780 replaces 34660 so you need to move one wire to the other side of the switch (terminal 1 and terminal 6 for instance).
