Electric or kick starter

Not all Harleys are dressers… and not all heavy bikes are Harleys.

My 1800cc Harley isn’t much heavier than my mates BMW GS…:oops: (and the weight is at a MUCH lower COG)…
 
Well how much does a Harley weigh and how much does any modern bike weigh? They all seem heavier than a Commando.

I saw some data for one of the striped down Dyna Hogs and it was 294k almost 650#.
 
Bikes all seem heavier today but then I could get a 500 that would run the socks off any of my old
750-850s and I am sure they are lighter.

Some of the big Japanese sports bikes are around 430lb
I don't think you'd need to go as big as a 500 to run the socks off a commando to be honest
 
When the ride gets finicky, and I’m on kick number 10 because I misjudged if I should have choked it or not, I look longingly at the handlebar for a button to push. But that’s the life we chose. :)

That's when we marvel at the capacity of modern batteries (and offer up a prayer of thanks for a decent charging system :-) )

OTOH, when my 2005 Speed Triple was going "screech.....clack" as the sprag clutch was packing up, I'd look longingly down at where a kickstart would be positioned.
