Anybody have access to the length and width of Electra vs an Atlas tank. My understanding is the Atlas tank is closer to four gallons whereas the Electra was closer to 2.5. I would like to confirm this if possible.

Thanks
Russ

Not sure about the Electra but my Atlas tank looks like it is about 4 gallons. It's a pretty big tank.

That sounds about right. The other thing to remember is that the Electra wasn't a Featherbed frame, so the center spine clearance "tunnel" will make the Electra tank a lower capacity even if it's roughly the same exterior shape. The Electra pre-dated my time at N-V, so I don't know much about it or the 250cc Jubilee.

I have an Electra (with 2 gas tanks), would like some pice or dims?

I've got an Atlas and an Electra. Here are some rough measurements:

Atlas - 8.25" at the rear, 13" at the widest point
Electra - 7.75" at the rear, 11.5" at the widest point

Those measurements are pretty close. The Electra is in pieces, so measuring the tank was easy, but I didn't feel like taking the Atlas tank completely off to get exact measurements since I ride it everyday.
And the Electra tank isn't as long as the Atlas.

If you're considering putting an Electra tank on an Atlas, I'd advise against it. Only because it would be a lot of work to make it fit. It's already not big enough to get over the featherbed frame rails, and the tunnel and front mount on the Electra tank most likely won't clear the head steady on the Atlas. Also, the Electra tank doesn't drape over the frame like an Atlas tank.

And then you'd have the issue of a big gap between the rear of the tank and the front of the seat. Unless perhaps you have a Manxman seat.

Basically, I think it'd be more trouble than it's worth to try and adapt an Electra tank to fit a featherbed. Atlas tanks pop up on ebay pretty regularly, and they can be had for a pretty good price.

Hope this helps. Feel free to PM me if you need more info.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies. It helps to confirm what I suspected. I am actually looking for an Atlas tank to rework for a Commando frame. The Electra tanks come up often and sell for even less so I wanted to think about it a bit before discarding the idea. An Electra tank could be transformed to fit but it would hold less than a Roadster tank by the time the work was done. It would end up about the size of of the Hi-rider tank I guess. So anyway, I'll keep looking.

It is kind of a shame that those badges don't fit something else tho!
