I'm going to use a set of old Dunstall rear sets on my 73 850 for a while. I'll make or buy some nicer ones later but for now I just need to get back on the road. Problem is I just tried to mock up the gear shift & found that It seems to hit the kick start lever in both directions. I moved the kick start lever to a vertical position but it seems I won't have much room for the shifter to move. Again I have not fitted the linkege, just put the foot peg & shifter arm on. I used Dunstall sets on two 750's years ago & don't remember this issue. Is is a senile moment or are the 750 kick start levers different? Or perhaps my shifter was made for another model? Doubtful as the brake side has the plate to mount to Commando Z Plates. Thanks for any help.

I have acres of room on mine but it's not stock. Is your shifter arm the 1/2" curved "pipe" style? When you consider you will still need some room for your toes it's hard to imagine the issue. The original Dunstall rearsets came with custom Z plates too.

Can you post a photo?

I'm not using the Dunstall Z plates. I'm using a set made to use the stock plates with the bottom foot rest stud removed & drilled to accept the Dunstall brake or shiffter footrest. I just realized, unlike the sets I used long ago this set has footrest rubbers made by "Bates" & instead of the thin solid metal Zdundtall arm it is a large tube. The brake plate has the adapter drilled for Commando Z plates so it must be a Commando set as opposed to a Atlas or any other but just does not seem like it will work. I'll post a pic in the morning. Thanks.
