I have a Cibie headlight on my Commando, but the alternator isn't really up to keeping the battery charged in town with the slow running & lights on.

Plus, it is powering an electronic ignition.

Can I drill the reflector to install a pilot light?

I'm sure the metal is too thin & the bright chrome would flake on the inside.

I don't want the expense of an updated alternator at present.

Thanks.

Got any electrician friends? A Greenlee knockout punch would work great, 5/8" or 11/16"ish?

I drilled mine and used a file to make a 'D' hole. It shouldn't be a problem. But a Greenlee punch would be best.
