Yesterday I decided that I would prefer the look of the oem Lucas switchgear to the "current" switchgear that I put on the bike about a year ago when I went to the CNW/Brembo mastercylinder. The problem is that I really like the Brembo MC and it was a great improvement over the sleeved oem masterC. The sleeved oem was a big improvement over the stock MC but the Brembo was an order of magnitude better and made the front brake the equivalent of that on a modern bike. So I'm trying to decide if I can accept the "downgrade" in braking performance to regain the stock appearance of the handlebar area of the bike.

One of my Lucas switches was cracked on one side - it was that way when I bought the bike - so I made up a "patch" to ensure it doesn't expand at all. The crack also was through one of the internal screw bosses so the electrical "circuit board" was only being held in by one screw. So now that's resolved and the switches are all cleaned up internally. I guess the only way to really know if I can handle the old MasterC is to remount the original switches/MC and see how it feels. BUt since I didn't like it nearly as well as the Brembo, I'm not sure just what my actual plan is here! I already know that the Brembo MC has a far better feel/stopping power than the sleeved oem. So logically, "original appearance" should take a back seat to "good brakes" but if logic was really involved, I'd still have my 996 Ducati and wouldn't be riding an old Norton! :)

Wish I could figure out the issue with the server here and this website. It now takes nearly a minute for each action I make - a minute to get on the site, a minute to access a message, a minute to go to another message, etc. Since it only happens here in Mexico City and only affects this site, it's obviously some issue between the server/site. My wife (speaks Spanish) called and they said it was "security related" whatever the heck that means. What changed to cause this, I have no idea. Oh well... If anyone here is an internet expert and has any suggestions, PM me - I'd love to sort this out.

Here's a pic of my patched switch:

I have this one for sale, it was NOS, i put 100 miles on it, it is like new. If you are interested let me know.

Let me dive in with a dumb question (my '70 has drum brakes and only a choke lever on the right side), why won't the Brembo master sit inboard of the Lucas switches ? Can you make up a clamp for the front side of the switch in place of the original master cylinder ?
