I went down a diffrent route, the original headlight is the worst light I have had in fifty five years of biking and that includes the worst from the  'Prince of Darkness' himself.  If you wanted to look at low flying aircraft or cows in the next field it was perfect, but if for some strange reason you needed to see where the road ahead went it was useless.  I bought a 'Cibie' reflector lens and fixed it into the original chrome rim with 'W' cllips and silicone , then added an LED bulb and HEY PRESTO let there be light. It has passed an MOT with this setup and as winter approaches and I spend more time riding in the dark it is worth every penny to be able to safely see where I am going , it has a typcal 'Cibie'  slash cut off for the dip (correct way) and a piercing long range pencil beam on full. It amazes me how few people actually ride after dark , it's quite entertaining ,  really give it a try.
