Donald Pender front brake parts and specs

No, thats is what I would like to know.
I took the master cylinder apart today to get some measurements to help try and identify the unit. I was looking on e-bay to see if I could find a seal kit and came across a replacement piston assy with seals and circlip that look identical to what I have. I've yet to get an answer back from Tourmax confirming the dimensions but they have a kit (MSB101) for the Honda CBF600.

Just heard from Don Pender
Brake pads are for Tokico calipers as used on many Kaw and Suz models, thats why i chose this caliper.
The recommended brake fluid is stated on the mastercylinder cap (Dot 3)
For an overhaul kit ,of which you probably only need the 2 piston seals which are not the same, you could try a Honda dealer or brake mastercylinder shop .
I could post a kit but that will take a while.
Its a 1-1/2 round trip to the post office, not sure when i can get there.if you are in the US then i cant use the post office, they are not accepting parcels to the US

I think I may be getting confused with which master cylinder we're talking about here, my MS is being used with the standard Lockheed calliper, but I see mention of Tokico callipers so not sure of compatibility. Don has got back to me and sent me a Honda Part No for the master cylinder piston with seals 45530-KVY-911 costing £12.32.

The Tokico caliper is wht Don Pender sells in his kit. That is what I have. The Honda part for the Master cylinder looks to be the same as in his kit.

I've got Don's brake installed on my 850 and now I'm trying to figure out how to tune the calipers correctly. I don't believe there were any instructions at all, and I'm in need of a tutorial on how to get them properly aligned. Any help would be appreciated.

‘Tuning the calipers’ is not something I’m familiar with.

What exactly is it you’re trying to do / achieve / solve ?

I guess I mean getting them perfectly flat / parallel with the rotor and then adjusted for opening and closing according to the brake lever pull. Thanks for replying.

I don’t think there’s much you can do in that regard is there?

The caliper should be aligned with the disc by the machining of the fork leg and other components.

Shimming the calliper mount so the disc is central within the calliper is often considered good practice. But given the ability of the pistons to ‘auto adjust’ to accommodate, even that is debatable in terms of real world impact.

If you don’t have any specific issues, and things appear in line, the pads are contacting correctly and on the outer edge of the disc, and nothing is touching / rubbing, I’d suggest you’re good to go.

Andy,
If you have Don’s kit, you should have no problems with the alignment. That was taken care of with the mount.
Mike
