Dominator or Manx cush drive clutch hub center on Commando?

OP has a cast rear wheel he hangs onto. However, if the lack of a cushed drive is a real concern, replacing the wheel by a semi-cushed Norton hub (1971-74) or a proper cushioned hub (Pender) with the necessary ancillaries should be a breeze.

I have an apprillia Pegaso/BMW funduro 650 back wheel in my commando laced to a 19" morrad alloy rim
It has a really good cush drive and the whole assembly is extremely light
 
However, there is a 7 plate clutch plate conversion for the T140 clutch which along with stronger springs is said to transform the clutch.

The additional friction plate allows for softer (650 or other) springs to be used (at least on a T140 or another Triumph twin but perhaps not with a Triumph clutch fitted to a Commando?) as T140 springs are already pretty stiff (I backed the 750 springs off by one turn when I fitted the Aerco 7-plate kit).

It looks like I will continue to be mindful and ride my 850 being gentle on the gearbox/drivetrain...ride it like I don't have a cush drive...because I don't.
Good plan.

Just to save some from rabbit hole exploring, the lack of cush drive on the Commando is NOT why the transmissions fail.

The transmission itself is too weak to handle the 850's torque for extended periods.

Ride like a parade bike, no problem. Use WOT regularly & continuously, and it WILL pop.

Don't shoot the messenger.

I thought the idea was to add a cush drive to the Commando clutch.
yup, just it was posted that a T140 clutch could be adapted to the Commando shaft... so if it was done in reverse, it should be doable.... relatively easily.
