I think you will find all sending paypal funds by gift means is the person sending the money pays any fee's.
I still can't see it being a problem since paypal themselves have no problem manipulating exchange rates and adding a fee so they can add around 5% to any international transaction, that is a scam in itself.
Perhaps this thread could stay on topic all the same.

thats what i thought, but Paypal apparently can determine whether the funds are for what ever reason they choose, its their game and they make the rules to suit themselves.

thats correct, its no problem for them coz they make the rules, they enforce them and they answer to no one.
yes off topic, I've had a gutfull.

Not really off topic at all, it is very pertinent to the discussion. I'm not sure what the "off topic" remark was about, it all looks like a thread about Disaster Relief in the Phillipines.

Don, if they give you hard time, tell them the whole story will be leaked out to the media and on social networks, this is exactly the kind of greedy corporatism the media is looking for. After all it is nobody's business what is done with money *I* chose to give someone, they let anyone use PayPal to buy sex on line yet they ask for donations to be given only to recognised charities or NGOs :!: :!: :!:

Great to see you are doing your best to help out Don; my wife has family back in the Philippines. Don't let the red tape nonsense get you down. I gave through the Red Cross.

Don,

I have been too busy these last few days to have made a donation before the curtain fell. However, it seems to me that if I am buying goods from you that Paypal can't dictate how much I pay for them. They get their cut but it is probably a smaller percentage lost than if I send money to other organizations. I could use a couple of your master cylinder sleeving kits. I would be happy to add a donation on top of the usual price. I really could use them, but if they aren't available I could send money for "goods purchased" anyway. If this sound reasonable, send me a PM.

I get upset about the greed and the corporate atmosphere we live in, but I am not going to change that overnight. However, money in the hands of boots on the ground still sounds like a good idea, even if we have to give them a cut to make it work.

Thank you Steve Borland,Bernard Morris,Celia Rohwer.
well the 90ft boat which has been donated to deliver our aid will be leaving today, it will take about 8 hours to get to Malapasqua Is where the aid will be handed out, that island is quite small, the boat will make 2 drops, one on each side of the island, I think it has about 7 tons of our assembled food packs, we still have enough
for about 3 more trips. yesterday we bought rolls of tarpaulin not high grade but enough to build some shelter, it was cut intp smaller sections and added to the food packs, we purchase the rolls from a Chinese retailer here at about $60 per roll, we went back to get some more and he jacked the price up to about $205 per roll, we are looking elsewhere, we bought fresh drinking water, went back and they tripled the price.
there is much aid now pouring in to the affected areas, much from the private sector like our group and much from other countries.

Hi Don,

I ran into this situation before. All you have to do is change the terminology to "Gift". We are giving a gift- not a donation.
It sounds terrible there. Thanks for keeping us updated,

Cheers- Jerry

Thank you William Blake and Michael Gordon for your help.
NOW Paypal are intending to suspend my Paypal account becoz they say I am not a registered charity
and should not be receiving donations, I've been in negotiatons with them at great length to try and persuade them not to suspend my account, one of their conditions is that I not receive any more help thru Paypal.
So it looks like this has come to an end, So I ask anyone who would like to contribute, DO NOT as I will refund you immediately. But the good news is ALL the help that everyone has given on this site was used to buy food etc for the needy, I'm very proud of all that gave and proud of our guys here that did and are still doing the work to get the aid to the needy. its going to take a long time to restore some order here for these people.
We all did good and I thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Don

Hi Don,

A big thanks for everything. I am changing this to a standard topic now and un-sticking it,

Cheers- Jerry
