Curious about the wheel bearing. Sealed or unsealed? Any particular reason
it gave up the ghost without much warning?

Sealed.

Hard to say for sure but I replaced the rear tire at the rally and I suspect the bushing and spacer that sets next to the bearing did not seat correctly when I put the wheel back on. Jim

Was that bearing the source of the new vibration?
Glen

Nope.
I have no doubt that the vibration is because the balance factor is now too high with the lighter pistons.

are you leaving it that way?[/quote]

Only until I get back home. Jim

Hi Jim. I have just been looking art Steve's video of your bike. Any chance of a running commentary of the modifications you have done? Am I correct in presuming the silver round objects just below the timing housing are some sort of vibration damper? Are they flexible joins between your pipes and mufflers?

Great looking bike.

The headpipes on my bike are mounted solidly to the bottom of the engine to prevent cracked headpipes.

The large nuts you see are used to compress the asbestos packing in the slip joint between the headpipes and muffler.

I will make some time to do a commentary on the mods. Jim

i'm interested in how the new vibration from the lighter pistons (i think) is dealt with

Well I will be re-balancing the crank by removing weight from the counterbalance to get the balance factor back down to 54%. Jim
