Does anyone have a good line on some crimps, I would like to use better then "automotive store" 0.50 cent ones. Figured Id ask. It would be nice If i could get them local.

Thanks,

Dave

Google "Vintage Connections", I used their connectors and crimp tool when I wired in the Sparx and halogen conversion. $10 minimum for international orders, but that's not hard to do. The first time using the crimp tool was one of those "why didn't I do this years ago" moments. It crimps the bare wire AND the insulation, just like the factory stuff - neat, clean, and secure. Get the plastic insulators, too.

You could also check "Eastern Beaver", they carry some nice stuff, too. But if you look too long at their stuff, you'll start thinking about a total re-do of the electricals, so be careful!

There is nothing wrong with the cheap crimps, you only have problems with them if you don't use the right crimping tools, I rewired my bike twice now (diffrent wiring with diffrent systems) and have never had a problem with the cheap crimps.

The common ones we use in auto repair are the Klein and the Thomas and Betts. They look similar to each other , but the T&B have one more crimping slot. Mine have lasted for close to 30 years

I use T&B for work, but at 8$ a splice that adds up. I am talking about the .05 cents per splice ones. I think i might go with the weatherpack for connectors and T&B envio's for splice and ring terminals. I haven't used or seen if T&B makes a eviro bullet style, I figure any place I want a bullet I could use the weatherpack connector............thats the plan so far.

We use Winzer crimp connectors on cars and they work OK , but a friend who builds bobbers , mostly with Triumph and BSA engines ( lots of vibration) builds all his harnesses with Noble crimp connectors . As my 850 Mk1 has been running well for years with his Negative ground built harness with nary a problem, I would have to concur.
