Hi guys,

I am restoring a 74 850 roadster. Everything is going prety well, except when i tried to start my commando.

The bike is in neutral position, when i try to kickstart the bike, the kickstart doesn't go down. I remove the primary cover, used a ratchet to try to rotate the crankshaft, but it Will only turn a bit. I hear the engine breath, but there is a "tok" noise.

Here is a small video : http://youtu.be/qUv_ugHwk2E

Sorry it's in french, but at the end you can here the noise. The engine was working fine when i removed it from the bike when i dismantaled it to get it repainted. Did not fell.

Do you have any ideas?

The screw(s) that hold the primary case to the crank case is too long.
Ta.

Je passe sur ce que je sais par expérience.
Veiller à la fin de la vis est intact ou la pompe à huile sera endommagé.
Merci.

Is there a common cause for these to be too long ?

Or is it just generic ones that are longer than the oem ones.

Correct size is 1/4-20 x 9/16" long. Nowadays an unusual length as you will likely find 1/2" and 5/8" stocked by most suppliers.
