I am wondering if anyone has had any condensation issues with the new Smith speedometer/odometer and/or tachometer gauges after washing their bike or riding their bike in the rain? I would like to hear from you if you have.

Thanks, Bryan

Hi, yes I had some , after a strong rain, and the tacho stopped working , plus as I had an Altair Pazon ignition , with the relevant wire for impulse to that tacho, It made some misfire to the ignition, both of them were brand new ...........send the tacho back to Andover (still under warranty), where I had bought it, and I received it repaired after quite a long time .......!
That was on my Seeley Norton, on its very first track days , two years ago..........since , no problems , but I had never tested it under heavy rain , again!.........

Hi
Yes, I also have some problems. Has a feeling that they are very sensitive to temperature fluctuations.
If there has been a little chilly and damp, not necessarily rain, it becomes a little condensation, which disappears when driving in a little warm and sunny

Vidar

Many thanks for the two replies above. Like Vidar, I had condensation under both the speed/odo and the tach which I thought might be due to washing the bike. Now I am starting to think that it might be related to a change in the weather, from cold and damp to hot and sunny. My thought is that these instruments should be waterproof given that they are intended to use on a bike in driving rain, if those are conditions that one encounters. My 42 yr old instruments never did 'fog' and I never noticed condensation under the glass like these new ones. My concern overall is that the moisture might well rust the internals and the instruments will eventually stop working.

I bought a set too and mine fog up too. I called the guy I bought them from and he said he would exchange them but I never got around to it.
Past warranty now but I do worry about damage to the clocks.
My thoughts were since they are made in England it must be real humid there when they were made and trapped it in.
