Vintage builder racers from 40ish year ago know that Williams copied the Axtel cam to come up with the PW3.

I just checked on the cam survey that I put in the link.
The Axtel and the PW3 have different lift, different timing and different overlap, apart from that it's obvious that Williams copied the Axtel.

Ok, its a controversy I hoped to get more feedback on. Do you know if the Axtel profile shown is the only Axtel produced to compare with the PW3? I can only relate what I've been told privately some years ago. Snoop around a bit and see if it don't raise more questions on time lines of who did what first. Here's hint it might be something consider.

Through my years of racing and research I tried a lot of cams and worked with Ron Wood a little. A lot of my info came from CR Axtell through my friend Ken Canaga. I tried the 4s the 2s, some Axtell cams and the Norris RX (same as Megacycle 560 NSS). They are all very good cams. The Axtell #3 is one of the better cams for with 750 good mid range. Its close to the PW3 and the Megacycle 560 NR is a copy of the Axtel #3. It has a little more duration and less lift than the PW3. Which means you can rev it a little more without valve float (up to about 8000 RPM with R/D springs).

Ron Wood got 84 HP out of his short stroke 750 back in the day. Norton didn't believe it and flew him & the motor to England to prove it.

I can't say for certain what else Axtel made, but that is the classic Axtel 5s , also known as the #3 grind. I do know it was available with different lobe splits for different applications. 103 or 105 degree lobe splits.

If you look through that cam survey, there are definitely some that are clearly copies of the Axtel:

I've read that too, but looking at the PW3 and the Axtel, I really can't see how anyone can think they are the same. There is more to it than duration and lift.
