While I had the primary apart I inspected the clutch plates and cleaned everything up. The metal plates in in pretty good shape but by marking the sides with a felt tip pen and then rubbing them on fine sandpaper I was able to determine they are not completely true. I decided to run them for a while and see how the clutch felt.
Now that I have the bike out tearing up the road the clutch feels good but when everything is good and warm I can put the bike on the stand and the rear wheel will rotate from the clutch dragging. If I grab the wheel with my hand there is no real pull there. How normal is this? Am I expecting too much out of a mutli-plate clutch to think there wouldn't be some rubbing going on in there when in neutral? Trying to adjust this out has gone too far the other way in a hurry.
I am also running the black fiber plates with what looks to be aluminum for centers.
Thanks,
Russ
