Clunky Commando

Every time the tank comes off , you lubricate the Heim Joints . Every time . They should look greasy , not shiny . I use transmission oil 80/90 Weight , but any oil is better than neglect .

Neglect is my middle name. And I can't remember the last time the tank was off. It is now. :p

So its the notch in the fixing bracket above the rose joint bolt head that seems ro indicate contact, cause of clunking? Might want to check the tank tunnel closest to the joint position...my repro tank needed dimpling in the area when I fitted my DT headsteady.

Rose joint come in different spec, some just steel on steel, others brass or even nylon at the joint surfaces. Some have grease ports. I believe Jim Comstock makes up a headsteady with much larger joints to better cope with wear.
