I've had a noise in the front that is getting worse and worse. It rattles ( clunks ) at slow speeds over small bumps.
I can duplicate it by holding the front brake and pumping the the forks up and down. When I hold the rear brake it won't do it.
I am thinking brake now but it's still too hot to spend much time in the garage.
74 stock disc ( drilled rotor, stainless line, Lansdowne damper). Puck? pads?

If it makes noise at full extension and bottoming then you need the aluminum sleeves.
go to JSmotorsport.com

One "clunky" fork turned out to be the lower bottom bush that was loose, the cure was to glue it in place..clunk went.
If the forks are OK by pumping them with the bike held by the rear brake..then the problem could be the the brake, or fork bush's sticking.
The rear brake held will not exert fore/aft force in the sliders.
