chrome exhaust downpipes

Somewhere on this site I believe I read that the problem is the head and specifically the angle of
the ports.
A lot of what goes on with Norton is the fact that back then nothing was CNC and variations and
specs were rarely spot on.
Having had issues with the fit of several sets of poorly fitting aftermarket header pipes I've been told the same by vendors. Odd then that the set I found that fit like a glove where an old set of rusty originals that I found at a flea market. Coincidence? Maybe. But it makes me wonder if some times it's just a convenient excuse. Some of the new pipes I tried where a really bad fit. Problem I have now is that while the old pipes fit really well the re-chrome didn't go so well and will have to be done again some time.

Viking has had its ups and downs. But they are hand fitted so they should fit. If you are in the UK there are vendors who will bend a set of pipes
for your bike as in you leave the bike with them for fitting.
Stainless is great in many ways but stainless can be more liable to cracking. However you can reweld and rebuff and job done.
Commando has the problem that the pipes are stressed more than a non rubber mount engine.
