For folks based in the U.K. this may be of interest (or concern)

This was posted today on the Morini riders club. It seems there have been some updates to the M.O.T. testers manual and headlights which have had LED or HID bulbs retro fitted may be an M.O.T. failure...

Quote..
"Some motorcycles may be fitted with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) headlamps. Existing halogen headlamp units should not be converted to be used with HID or LED bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp"

The full details are at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspect ... otorcycles

Cheers,

While I'm not in the UK, I cannot believe this rule! What kind of idiots would dream up a rule like that?
Still, not realistically enforceable - just have to fit the LED after the MOT.
Changes to the M.O.T. testers manual.

As most (would say 'all' but doubtless there'll be some late registrations) 'classic' Commandos are over 40 years old, they can be registered as: 'historic' vehicles here in the UK and be exempt from road tax and MOT testing (if applied for).....
And I would expect LEDs et al need a dedicated reflector and lens, hence the 'converted halogen' point.
