Hi Guys looking at the certification plates supplied by AN there are two boxes
What is stamped into the top Box?
What is stamped into the bottom box?

Thanks

top is date....like 3/73
bottom is serial
like 310xxx
now mind you mine is a feb 74 so that is what I have

Pretty sure top line of mine has :
Apr/72
Bottom is: 207xxx
No numeral for month of April in top line ....

You don't need to do it EXACTLY like the factory did:

I ruined a couple trying to do it myself so I took it to a jeweler who engraved it just fine for about $15. Actually looks a little too neat.

This is mine. Note that the date is upside down. Both of my 73's are this way. It may have been done that way so that it was easier to read from the side of bike.
The date stamps are 5mm and the serial # stamps are 4mm.

My plate is very similar to the example BobZ has up , sorry ... guess more than one style , eh ?

There is more than one plate so model based.

I think the number might have been stamped prior to the date and the stamps were in some form of guide given the neatness.
The date looks to have have been stamped Saturday morning after a night out Friday or it was done by Mr Magoo's UK relative.

Sometime after 71 they must have figured stamping 7x for the date took longer than stamping 3x...

I wonder if the SR# was punched before the plate was mounted and the date stamped after the plate was in place.
Might explain the different punch styles (font) and the crazy stamping.

I own 4 different style commando plates and I'm not positive that is all of them....

In case you don't know, AN stamps them free if you order it from them.
