Hi all I posted this thread on a different section which was the wrong one. This thread is aimed at the uk norton owners who have unregistered motorcycles.
I bought a unregistered bike and I was going to keep her that way but now I would like to register the machine. Does anyone have experience with the certificate of conformity which should have come with the bike but did not. I wrote to Norton but they are just unhelpful. Is there anything I can do?

Certificate of conformity for new vehicles

The certificate of conformity ensures the free movement of goods and must be supplied to the buyer of a new vehicle when the vehicle is delivered.

Information recorded on the certificate​

The CoC sets out the main characteristics of the vehicle including:

  • mass
  • dimensions
  • engine size
  • technical performance such as official fuel consumption figures or electric range
  • manufacturer name and address
  • date of manufacture
To prevent forgery, the certificate should include a watermark or hologram.

The CoC will also show whether the vehicle has been designed for driving in left-hand traffic and with an imperial speedometer to indicate that it is suitable for use in the UK.

The Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) will require evidence of type approval to support a vehicle’s first registration, which could be a CoC.

So you need to back to the first dealer who would have received it from SG Norton.

The first owner bought directly from Norton. Been in contact with him and Norton did not supply which was a legal requirement.
Wrote to the New Norton and there just not helpful. I realise what the certificate has detailed on it but the question is if I cannot get one has anybody had some experience getting around this?

I also written to the Norton owners club.
Basically if there no certificate are DVLA saying it's impossible to register it..Cannot see that being the case.

I answered this earlier. Due to age, you'll still have to have it msva'd....so the cert of conformity means nothing. All the info is on the gov website.

Only the original manufacturer could do this, as they no longer exist you need to find a different route such as would apply to a custom bike.
